SMG: Crit builds love it, mod generation loves it, it's easy to control, fast reload, and burns through adds and bosses quick! The damage drop-off from range is a tad rough, but it's a secondary and it's a great option to pair with a close-range long gun. Magnum: It's a hunting rifle in a secondary slot, nuff said. It just doesn't feel like it has a good niche. but I think shotgun outperforms it at close range, hunting rifle outperforms it at mid/long range. And it's not inherently bad, range is pretty good, pellet spread is pretty close, and reloads fast enough. Coach Gun: I want so badly to love this gun. While the one shot hits hard, if it whiffs or grazes, your at a big disadvantage. Sporeblossom: Not a fan when comparing it to the shotgun. It's not inherently bad, but I don't feel it's that great either. Sniper Rifle hits hard, but outside of that, has nothing really going for it except for use with Slayer (which from what I've seen, crossbows are arguably better for), especially when paired with Particle Accelerator. I like the look and feel of the gun, and the mod, in the right situation, can do pretty good damage, but it's clunky, susceptible to screwing over teammates, and requires enemies to stay alive to get the most out of it. Eye of the Storm is a hunting rifle that has a bad mod in it, hands down. Ruin, another borderline S-Tier, but the kick can cause you to move off headshot if you're not adjusting midfire and the mod, while useful when you need it, relies on you dying and is generally outclassed by other mods. Hunting rifle is a great jack of all trades, but for me, struggles with maintaining ammo and doesn't pack the punch I'd like it to have in a lot of cases, ESPECIALLY Corsus (swamp). Limited by range and is ineffective against some bosses, due to either a.) optimal fighting distance or b.) you don't wanna be next to them. Shotgun tears through people close range, staggers things that aren't one-shot by it, and crits hard when hit correctly. It can crit to ridiculous numbers and a lot the slower minibosses can get go down insanely fast from it. Also, if you get good with it's mod, it's insanely good. It's good for boss fights that are mobile or have a lot of adds to control. Particle Accelerator hits HHHAAARRRDDD and has a good fire rate, accuracy, and amazing reload speed. Any fight where you can good damage in with it it crushes. Beam Rifle for crit/mod generation ramps up really fast. S-Tier: Beam Rifle / Particle Accelerator I run two piece Osseous / one Ex-Cultist or two piece Radiant / one Ex-Cultist currently. My build tends to focus around crit / mod generation for DPS mods. It's by no means comprehensive, just my thoughts. Here's my list on the weapons I've played with for several hours and upgraded.
