Like many others, I was shocked to learn of the sudden death of Geoff iNcontroL Robinson last night when the news was announced via. Outside of being a competitor, Robinson hosted various StarCraft events as a commentator, Robinson co-hosted a podcast with fellow StarCraft caster Dan “Artosis” Stemkoski called The Pylon Show. He once played professionally for esports organization Evil Geniuses. Robinson originally competed in StarCraft : Brood War, and became one of the first players to test StarCraft 2 before its beta. While Robinson hosted streams playing Dungeons and Dragons as well as a variety of strategy games, he was widely known for his presence in the StarCraft community. Robinson had his hands in many early esports, and hosted a variety of events at different conventions. But he was also the kind of one-in-a-million human being who genuinely cared about every single person he met-no matter who they were, or how unlikely it was that he would see them again.įew people have had more of an impact on StarCraft than Geoff. He was ambitious and motivated, always looking for opportunities to learn and improve himself. Geoff was a competitor with unparalleled work ethic. When Geoff “iNcontroL” Robinson passed away earlier this year, the StarCraft community lost someone incredibly special. ![]()
